SHERIFF JOHN MYERS
John Myers has served in Law Enforcement for a total 20+ years. He began his Law Enforcement career in 1992 working as a Correctional Officer at the Lawrence County Sheriffs Dept. in Lawrence Co. Tennessee. In 1995 he was promoted to Patrol Deputy and in 1996 he attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. In 1997 he was assigned to the Lawrence County Sheriffs Dept. Drug Unit as an Investigator/K-9 Handler.
In 1997 he began his tenure at the 22nd Judicial Drug & Violent Crime Task Force as Senior Agent appointed over the Interstate/Highway Interdiction Unit and Chief K-9 Handler. In 2004 he was appointed as Director at the 22nd Judicial Drug & Violent Crime Task Force and was responsible for all operational and administrative duties at the Task Force.
In 2004 he deployed to Kosovo and worked in support of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo as a Police Trainer and Unit Commander of a Regional Narcotics Unit. In 2006 he returned to active duty at the 22nd Judicial Drug & Violent Crime Task Force where he was employed until September 2007. In March of 2011 John Myers began serving as an Explosives K-9 Handler with AMK-9/SOC at the US Embassy in Baghdad Iraq with the Baghdad Embassy Security Force (BESF).
After returning from Iraq he was employed at the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department from 2013 to 2014. In 2014 he was appointed to the Chief of Police at the Ethridge Police Department where he was employed until getting elected Sheriff of Lawrence County August 2nd 2018.
Sheriff Myers and his wife Cindy Myers have been happily married for 16 years. They live in the Ethridge area of Lawrence County and have two children Will Myers and Riley Myers.
